Women Empowerment

The World Economic Forum recently ranked the United States as 19th in the world on its gender gap index. With women comprising less than one fifth of elected members of Congress, the report identifies political empowerment as the greatest gender equity issue for the United States. The U.S. ranked higher in economic empowerment, but women's earning power remains approximately 20% lower than men. Women in the United States have a very high ranking of educational attainment, though, with high levels of literacy and enrollment in primary, secondary, and university education. At present, there are more U.S. women attending college than men.

Promoting civic and public leadership for women

Austin is committed to supporting the Biden-Harris Administration’s agenda in uplifting the rights of women and girls around the world. We bring our global leadership, technical expertise, and strategic partnerships to achieve the overarching goal of ensuring equitable access, opportunity, and benefits for all.

Education, training and professional development for women

A girl or a woman in school is realizing her fundamental human right to an education. She also has a far greater shot at realizing her full potential throughout her life, becoming better equipped to secure a decent, well-paid job, for instance, or leave a violent home.

Education is essential for women to attain gender equality and become leaders of change. At the same time, educated women benefit entire societies. They make substantial contributions to flourishing economies and the improved health, nutrition and education of their families.

Austin’s programs are empowering women and girls to create better societies. No country can get ahead if it leaves half of its people behind. This is why the United States and Austin believe that gender equality is critical to our shared goals of prosperity, stability, and peace. The Educational and Training  department of Austin sponsors academic, professional, and cultural exchange programs to educate, empower, and equip women and girls with the tools and resources that may be lacking or inaccessible to them in their home countries.
